Not exactly "local" (I'M still tied up with work these days!), BUT...
I have noticed that MOST of the big on-line retailers (DSG Arms, G&R Tactical, AIM Surplus, LaRue Tactical & Optics Planet - those five SPECIFICALLY, because I've shopped them!) are running out of EVERYTHING as well.
I really haven't "NEEDED" ammo in years (I have a policy of buying TWICE what I shoot to replace it. I shoot 300 rds. of 5.56 at the range; I buy 600rds. to replace it - and I've followed that policy since 9/11!), but I'm having trouble sourcing simple stuff... like, AR receiver end plates, sling swivels, slings, and optic mounts.
Because I'm all-Aimpoint-all-the-time on CQB optics, it's an INTERESTING time to be shopping for used ones. Because of the proliferation of the new T-2/H-2 series, and Comp M5's, the BOTTOM has fallen out of Comp M4's and T-1/H-1 prices. With a little bit of searching, you can find them - with mounts (usually a low mount, or lower-third; if you're like me, and need an ABSOLUTE co-witness , you may hafta shop a little longer, get one WITHOUT a mount [even cheaper!], or sell the mount that comes with, and buy what you want) - UNDER $500!
So I picked up a nice T-1 off Calguns.net (a forum worth joining, if ONLY for their marketplace!!!) this week. But the ONE retailer where I've found some USEFUL stuff - IN stock - is;
Midwest Industries
They have good stuff, and their pricing is competitive. I just bought a set of their folding BUIS, and while I've been a Troy BUIS fanboi for over a decade, good LUCK finding even USED ones these days!!! MI are similar, and $40 - $60 cheaper than a new set of Troys (and people are selling used ones at close to NEW prices! ). I'm gonna put 'em on my tactical trainer AR .22, pull the Troys off of it, and put them on the rifle I'm trying to complete.
So happy hunting, for WHATEVER you want/need these days. Feel free to keep passing along experiences, good or bad, in your searches these days.
