I tend to sign on and see this then just wait for the site to be up and operational again, Any idea as to why this happens ?

Something on BB's end, to be certain.
I was told it crashes due to site overload, I'm thinking the site is running out of memory/space.

That's one reason the big bosses are getting rid of the junk, too much old crap just laying around.
