Gas mileage and speed would suck but not much is going to be able to stop me either

Isn't that the one the guy in California went on a rampage with until he ran out of fuel?

Nope tried to run over a hardware store and fell through floor with 1 track.
And the reason I want that is I think a bobcat would be to small and It's gonna be hard to find an Abrams.

LOL, yeah even armored a bobcat would get tipped over and squished by an abrams
Another option is the Stryker vehicle.

When there is nothing else, break in to the National Guard armorys and help your self. It really is simple to drive and will go just about anywhere.
i would use a steamroller for on the road and a 6x6 dump truck for off road.

the steamroller might be slow till i add a nitrous system to it and flatten all the Zombies in my way.

It's diesel you want a propane injection system. If you're going with construction equipment, use a yuke.

Cant go wrong with a Blackhawk

I know this is an old post & I hate to correct things because God knows I don't know everything and get things wrong sometimes.
That is not a Blackhawk, But your on to something.CH-53E Super Stallion

You did pick the right one! Bad-AssBig Grin

Where are you now? If you are in an urban environment, a heavier truck with at least four roll down windows and carrying capacity with heavy battering ram on the front for ramming vehicles and other obstructions out of the way would be the way to go. A standard grille guard would not handle up to the ramming all that well. Nor would a midsize SUV be heavy enough to properly ram things out of the way. An excursion, suburban, tahoe, 4 door pick up, or the like would work. Other modifications that would be helpful would be a 1/2 inch plate of steel on the guard over the radiator would help other survivors from disabling your vehicle. Some chainlink fencing mounted over the windows would keep zeds from breaking in.
In a rural environment, something with better ground clearance and off road capability would help. A lifted wrangler with fencing over pretty much the entire cab would work well.

Do you have any tactical driving experience? If not, something lighter and faster would be better. If you have more experience, you can drive a heavier vehicle that would let you carry more.

Do you have enough other people that are likely to survive the initial infection to take multiple vehicles so you can have backup? If that's the case, than running scout and heavy backup together would be good. Scout vehicles don't have to be four wheel drive. Any smaller vehicle with straight axles can be modified decently easily to be high enough and fast enough to be scout vehicles. Honestly, something like an AMC Eagle would be an excellent thing for that. They're already high enough off of the ground, they're pretty fuel efficient, with decent power and space for supplies and people.

Those are the main things.

I have to agree with this post.
It all depends on what you are doing and what Area/Environment you plan to travel. Are you alone? Group size small/Large.
You can have one for each type of situation.
Scout Vehicle = Light & Fast
B.O.V. = Dependable/Reliable, Durable, Secured/Safety, Load capacity "Room for you/others and stuff", Towing Capacity
H.H.V. = "Heavy Haul Vehicle", For supply's "Convoy Support", Obstacle Removal "From Smart-Car to SUV's", Defense/Offense Capability
A.P.C. = For large Groups/Personnel, Armor for protection manly defense with some offense capably, Main objective protect Cargo/People! Get them to safety and keep them safe.
A.T.V's = I like them, They are a good Short Range Scout Vehicle, Base camp i.e. Re-con, Save fuel for the main transports.
MEDeVAC = Medical Support/Transport
M.C.P.V. = Like a Scout Vehicle, Supports Communications,
One/Two can support a long Convoy's communications over the Earth/Horizon and/or Boost Reception in bad areas, Could put it self in a High ground area to seek out COM Cattier and relay to another Scout Vehicle, Convoy, Base Camp.

I'm sure I miss a few..But, You get the idea.

Now, The tricky parts is when you try and put them in to one platform! Good luck, For every action their is a equal and opposite reaction.
Its kind of hard to get a Vehicle or "Swiss Army Knife Vehicle" to do everything and still be viable and not a big drain on resources.
Remember, It will need repairs one day and will always need servicing. So common parts would be good.X-Military or Not and can you fix it "D.I.Y."

As for Window protection. I would use both Chain Link & Chicken wire.
The chicken wire go's first then the Chain link over top. The Chain link will take the full brunt of force, While the chicken wire will act like a net and keep stuff out.
If weight is not an issue, Then their is Industrial Catwalk Grating.
Now that is the ticket!Tongue

Most M35's "Deuce" are street legal and you can use your regular license to drive them. They are less then 26,000 Ibs. They can be had for around $3,000 +/-. I like the M35A2's version. The M35A3's are great too but, They have some added stuff that might break down over time. Parts might not be available. Thats why I like the A2's. K.I.S.S.S.
Just enough, But not too much.
Their are CUCV's around the same price. The M998 platform is around $30-$40,000 a given. Their are spare parts, if You know were to look and share common Civilian parts not all but some.

One note:
You do want to keep things Simple But, Even then when you stand back they become complicated & Complex!
I still like the v22 if they can get all the kinks worked out of it:
