Rally point
so far we have the bridge at rt 81 as a rally point, i know thats far for some, but it is pretty central for the area, if someone wants to suggest another we can work it out.....

from there its an easy hike/drive to the mountains and away from the city !!

Sector 6 , bring it !

Re: Rally point
My $0.02 ----

I think a more solid, land based landmark would be better. If the zombies have help, bridges are obvious targets. Anyone on the bridge has no cover. If zombies attack from both sides at once, we're going in for a drink.

With that said, the interchange at I-81/RT-581 would be a good spot. I-81/RT-15 would also be ok, but I think it is too close to the bridge (all the cons above apply).

Re: Rally point
i agree , after thinking about the bridge for a while now it seams liek a bad idea after all, a shopping mall would be too big but a building with a flat roof would be ideal,... would liek to shoot for something northern york southern HBG area will have to do soem recon and check it out...

Sector 6 , bring it !

Re: Rally point
Come on...isn't it obvious? We should meet at the York Fairgrounds....

First of all, this gives us a great open range to take down zombies from a distance. Besides, it's where the big East Coast gun/machinegun show is held. So it'll clearly become a rallying point for other armed members of society as well.

Do you really want to fight your way through West York to get there? Then, once we have our "game plan" and move out, we have to fight our way through W. York again to get out.

Think easy access (terrain, roads, "locals", etc.) , easily defendable high ground, centrally located in the sector. I don't know, so I'm throwing it out there.

On a side note:
Sector 6 could be somewhat in a pickle - it's that damn river. There are only a few river crossings, and you can bet they will be HEAVILY patrolled, blocked, and used by zombies or "the authorities". I think it makes more sense to split into 2 sub groups (6W and 6E) and have 2 rally points depending on what side of the river you're on. Then, we have the MAIN RALLY point where groups 6W and 6E meet 24 hours after "zombies attack" is officially called. That would give people a full day to get their $h!t together and assemble at their preliminary rally point before moving to the MAIN rally point. It will be much easier to get across the river as a large group than a few at a time (safety in numbers).

Re: Rally point
For 6E how about E-Town High-School, pretty much halfway between HBG and Columbia. Would give us the option of using either bridge sets, should one set be out of commision.

Re: Rally point
These have been some of the ideas that some of my friends and i have tossed around....
cumberland vally admin building, (open line of sites in all directions close to food, water, livestock, heavy equipment)

the strip mall in dillsburg with the giant pretty much the same reasons as above.

the equipment rental place accross from the wally world on 322. ( wally world just stems like a bad idea in my head everyone would rush to loot)

i have tons of ideas.

RE: Rally point
Does anyone here in Sector 6 have more rally point ideas? I am thinking that we would be best served to head out to, and meet up in, more rural locations. You know, places that get us away from the bulk of the horde and provide us with more cover. To me places like State or National Parks would serve us well. A place like Pinchot State Park would provide us with lots of water, once purified that is, as well as fish and game for food.
I may be all wet with this theory so weigh in with your opinions please. We've got to get the convesation going.

It's been awhile since anyone commented on this thread.... I just wanted to revisit this question of a rally point. I kind of like the idea of Pinchot Park....It is away from the cities and has multiple roads exiting the park (towards Lewisberry or Dillsburg). Another might be a gun range...like the PGC range in Dillsburg or in Carlisle. If it is REALLY BAD, at least both border state game lands to hump it into.

RE: Rally point
No one out there seems to want to reply on this....

So, I'm going to put it out there and if there are objections, please feel free to start discussing them here.

Sector 6 should have a rally point at Pinchot State Park, QUAKER RACE
DAY USE AREA entrance. There are multiple points out of the park and away from the area. For longer term, there is fishing, small game, and even cabins. There's even a playground to keep the kids occupied while we are out stopping zeds.
Here is the map:

All in favor, say "I"......
