I have been searching for various Magpul items, and have come across a lot of the PTS stuff. My question is, what is the difference? Is there really even a difference? I know the PTS stuff is for training and is used A LOT among the airsoft community. Reason I ask, is I was looking for an AFG and saw a few of the PTS AFG's for significantly cheaper than the regular.

Should I avoid the PTS stuff? It is going on my M&P 15-22, if that makes a difference.

I was going to post on the other PA site, but I generally get the condescending answers when I ask a question there, so I figured, I haven't been here in a while and would ask you guys instead.

So what do you guys think. Leave the PTS stuff for airsoft, or is it OK to use on a .22?

I have regular Magpul MOE products on my AR15 and they work great. I've personally never even seen the PTS stuff but from what I've gleaned online, there seems to be a difference in quality. For a .22 you should be fine, when my friends and I were into GSG-5s a lot of the accessories were made by airsoft companies and they worked fine.

Although, Magpul products really don't cost much more then the PTS stuff, and it would give you more options if you later want to use it on a AR.

I know some of the Magpul stuff is fairly cheap, but I have only been finding the AFG's for sale from about $35 and up, I found a PTS AFG for $25 shipped, that's what prompted my asking about the PTS stuff in the first place. Just wanted to see what others thought. As far as my other AR, I have some Magpul stuff on it, MOE handguards and planning on getting a MOE stock for it. Other than that, I am not doing much to it.

I like having a VFG on my .22, but sometimes the straight up and down gets annoying. I saw the AFG and thought that it might be a good compromise.

I have the pts afg on my 15-22, thousands of rounds and no issues. Keep a little bit of oil on the screws/bolt/nuts, it will rust easily.

I would just pay a bit extra for the Magpul AFG and like its been said before you wouldn't have to worry about putting it on another weapon. Buy once cry once.

Yeah I work out.......I do 12oz. curls

I would be hard press to breaking off the pts afg without destorying my weapon too. You can cheap out on some items, but there are a lot of items you shouldn't. This handle is simple and solid enough.

It's $25, cheap enough to buy and regret if that's the case.

Also, I have the MOE version of the 15-22 with the Magpul pop up sites. My coworker paid $24 shipped for a new set of Magpul PTS pop up sites. From what we can tell the pts version appears to be the same with a more rough finish or made of a cheaper material but very close in color/appearance. They are identical in shape, size, and function. Use the same site posts, etc. For me, sites are something you shouldn't cheap out on but on a 15-22 that's only intended purpose is plinking, then go for it.
