Haiti , looting armed mobs watch and learn!!
By now everyone knows their was an earth quake in Haiti. I think their is a lesson to be learned that will unfold before us. I was watching the news and reading on the net waiting for the word to come in and it did. Men and children are running the streets in mobs looking for food water and supplys. they are weilding machetes. Their will always be have and have nots ! The guys with the machetes will take what they want by force. We can all learn from this what to expect . The SHTF in Hati and it would appear that no one was prepaired for an event of this magnitude (no pun intended) Watch the news and read on the net. This is what you can expect in America or any place else . Remember some people think you and I are crazy because we prepare for the worst ! These will be the same people trying to beat down your door when the SHTF ! Watch and learn !!!

RE: Haiti , looting armed mobs watch and learn!!
I agree that it is very interesting to watch a societal breakdown... This is just the most recent case. In almost every scenario the timeline and actions and reactions of people are uniform. And in all of those cases the populace was now actually out of the worst of it (i.e. the natural disaster is over) and now just left with no modern convenience, or in some cases basic necessities....However all know that relief is already started and coming. Can you imagine the worst case scenario when people know that there is no hope of help (or if any/best case it may be months to years away) things will go to "thunderdome" pretty quick.

It hasn't done much at all IMHO. ![]() "The freedom message doesn't divides us, it brings us together" -Ron Paul |

I deployed to La for Katrina and Rita, I have seen the actions of people when their corner of the world goes to s*it. This is why I joined the ZRT and never go anywhere without a means to protect myself and family.

RE: Haiti , looting armed mobs watch and learn!!
Preparedness and awareness....it is what separates us from the the oblivions wondering this world with only their own cares and thinking only in the moment. We ask, What if?....and then we actually prepare for the "if."
As for donations to Haiti, I donate to the red cross every year. That is all I will do. They will (usually) put money where it is needed. With Katrina, we all found out how many corrupt "charities" there were....

RE: Haiti , looting armed mobs watch and learn!!
What can I say? It's unfortunate, but it ain't our fault. If you want, donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, church, or whatever. We can help with emergency relief, the Marines (To protect aid workers, etc) because that's what we're about.
But I'll be damned if I want any more of my tax money to go to that country. We've been pumping billions of $ into that country ever since the French left. It's still a craphole & will be as long as anybody there has a hole in their ass. Enough is enough. I think Bill Clinton made a statement to the effect that, "We'll rebuild it as good as new." The last I heard we're broke. We're printing money as fast as we can cut down trees for the paper & our own infrastructure is in shambles. Let somebody else help them. It's time we take back our country & take care of ourselves. Rant over. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. |
