I don't own one....but I hear they are pretty awesome. They are expensive, but well made.

RE: Daniel Defense M4
i know a guy who has one, i have messed with it a little. i would never spend that kind of money on one unless your a leo or into some serious competition shooting. you could get a stag or a dpms or even a s/w for half the money.
the only thing i noticed they have a real nice trigger, a smooth even pull.
if you are dead set on one ask around, there is allot of guys selling stuff they bought when the idiot got in office you might be able to find one at 1/2-2/3 of the price of new....

Partsman brings up a good idea for you..... since the DD trigger is so nice, just get yourself a decent and affordable M4...then spend some of the money you saved on a timney trigger.....one of the best there is....

RE: Daniel Defense M4
Thanks for the heads up! I buy guns when I can and am building up the collection. I have 3 ARs now. 1 is loaded up and tricked out, the other 2 are completely plain. I was very interested in the DDM4 and was ready to buy it from a PAFOA member until.....the day we were to meet up after days of emails planning the purchase he let me know I could see it that day but, not actually pick it up. This was due to the fact that was never disclosed that the gun did not fit together or operate and he was going to let me see the gun, then send it back to be repaired. He said it was never fired or dropped but, the receivers and barrel did not line up from the factory, and then also he had sold the case before the meet. Made me leery of gun quality, and the seller for not fully disclosing all the info upfront. Also @ this point I am seeing these guns for less $$$. So, I am now looking to get one of the piston operated ARs for the collection.....

RE: Daniel Defense M4
stag came out with a piston AR, price not too bad just over 1 g, and I think the Ruger 556 is piston op too.

Sand....there are some other threads on here were we disussed the piston ARs. I have a CMMG piston AR...I'm not sure I'll ever get another AR that does not have a piston. I can fire off a whole clip and then grab the barrel...it's barely warm....not smoking hot like standard gas impingement....and the breach area / bolt stays way cleaner.

RE: Daniel Defense M4
Sig makes the 516 which is a gas piston ar, as well as Bushmaster has one available as well. Either way, aftermarket gas piston setups are available. http://www.adamsarms.net/

I've gotta get one. On paper and then from informed sources like yourself it just seems like it's got to be the way to go. A couple of older gun owners keep telling me it's a fix for a problem that doesn't exist but, it just seems logical to me. Is the break down, cleaning, and re assembly difficult?

Thanks for your info, I really do appreceiate it, it's more confirmation to me that it's the way to go.

Thanks!

I think for me, I'll have to buy an AR that is already built with it. I'm not the most mechanically inclined and would be scared of my handi-work if I tried to modify my own gunBig Grin......

I really like the rep that Sig has with their products.....I reall do like that a couple of the guys on here have personal experience with a couple other brands and are willing to share their input and experience with them. Opens up alot of options.

Thanks for the info!
