[Completed] Links to external sites
I made this same suggestion on the momma forum, but thought I'd mention it here since I have shut this browser down about 1 bazillion times thinking I had opened the link in a new window and spent time shopping around and then realizing that the link opened in the original window.

Can we make it so that the link automaticly opens in a new window or link.

Any thoughts?

this behavior is controlled by your browser in most cases and not the link itself.

Really? Cause on most other forums the links open in a new window. When I posted about it over at PAFOA they actually changed the code so that the click opened it in a new window.

Like if I post http://www.google.com and you click it here you will be taken to the external link in this window. Try that over at PAFOA and you are taken to a new window.

Personally I think one window is better. If you want it in a separate window, you can always right-click and go to "open in new window." So many sites nowadays use the new window for just about every link, and if you're not paying enough attention you'll end up with 30 open windows.

I agree which is why I was thinking for any external links only. If not I can learn to live with it.

I believe if you hold down the shift key when you click on the link it will open in a new window as well.

This is correct, at least for my Firefox browser. Holding down the CTRL key while clicking the link opens the link in a new tab instead of a new window, as well.

Holding down CTRL and SHIFT opens it on a completely different computer, like on your next door neighbor’s. (I’m just kidding about that, but it would be funny.)
