I was thinking the same thing.
"In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue... natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment."

The movies and video games always got me worked up but I never really took things any further than daydreaming. When the BBC show Survivors came out, and then Left4Dead, and now the Walking Dead I started to take things a bit more serious, but I still kept it to myself. I quietly began to stockpile ammunition, and started working on ways to fortify the house if necessary. Unfortunately I was oblivious to things like food and water being just as important.
About a year ago I noticed that all of my wife's newer hobbies (canning, gardening) were really beginning to take over. More and more I saw her reading up on depression era cooking, how to survive a depression, etc. I waited it out for a while and then 6 months ago she approached me and declared that we needed to start doing some hard core prepping because bad things are coming. It seems she had already done research, and was well on her way to covering all of the areas that I had previously been neglecting. The zombie apocalypse is now an everyday metaphor in our house. I suppose I should stop using it in front of our kids, when they go to school and start talking about how the zombies are coming we may get some phone calls....

I was raised in the woods damn near from birth. I have been shooting, fishing, and camping as long as I can remember. Survival in the wilderness has always been a hobby, quite serious sometimes, for a long, long time. It wasn't until the last 6 years or so that I started thinking about a complete fall of our society and what would I have to offer.
I played the standard post apocalyptic games like the Fallout series, L4D, and Resident Evil. The movies are what really made the zombie craze fun for me. I firmly believe that preparation for that sort of disaster is enough to prepare for just about anything. Besides, what's are a couple thousand extra rounds bad for anyway? :-)

Not really sure but its more fun to discuss gear and such with a zombie back drop. Plus it makes my wallet fell better about paying for quality gear

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” ~Cesare Beccaria

The Zombies thing is just cool and frightening at the same time. The whole viral induced zombie state scares the shitte out of me. Basically this. My wife thinks Im just being silly, but Im being prepared. I went from no guns in the house to 4 in no time. Just boght my first AR to fuel the fire....

If I'm prepared for a ZA then im pretty much good to go from there. Its fun to talk about and it does help with other scenarios. Personally whenever I talk about the ZA I envision more of a collapse of society where all the entitled folks and those who are not prepared are the zombies (they just don't eat your brain). Also it goes right along with my favorite hobby (guns)
